Don has mastered music that has sold tens of millions of copies in all musical styles. He has achieved the recognition of winning Grammy awards as well as several RIAA Gold and Platinum awards. His knowledge of music knows no limits and ranges from Billboard’s #1 Gospel label, Savoy Gospel Records to The Bad Brains.
Don was recruited by Bob Ludwig at Masterdisk Studios, N.Y. to act as his production engineer. Over a period of years, he cut vinyl records and made CD production masters for an amazing array of Bob’s clients. Among these were Pink Floyd, Bruce Springsteen, Tears For Fears, Sade, Tony Bennett, Metallica, Elvis Costello, The Kronos String Quartet, The Grateful Dead, Public Enemy, Mariah Carey, Lou Reed and Journey among many others.
Don was sought out by ABKCO Records and completed the vinyl cutting for 10 classic Rolling Stones albums including “Beggar’s Banquet”, and “Get Your Ya-Yas Out” among others.
Don served an eleven year tenure as Chief Mastering Engineer at Europadisk, Ltd in N.Y. While there, and earlier at Frankford/Wayne Mastering Labs, working with Arthur Baker, Tommy Boy Records and Strictly Rhythm, he laid the foundation for some of today’s most popular music and became an especially well-known presence on the Dance Charts. He averaged up to 35% of the weekly tally. He did work for 3 Grammy Award winning remixers (Peter Rauhoffer, David Morales, and Jr. Vasquez). His work for many independent labels brought major label clients including Christina Aguilera, Kelly Clarkson, Franz Ferdinand, and Annie Lenox. In the Hip Hop world, Monica, Missy Elliot, Run DMC, Cypress Hill, and labels J Records, BMG, Epic, and Def Jam scored with Don.
Don’s current focus on independent artists and smaller labels has put him directly into the most active segment of the current world of music. His client’s musical taste is exceptionally varied and keeps his ears on the cutting edge. Being able to download tracks, master, and then upload to the client has enabled him to assemble a world-wide clientele.
