I have just returned from an international 4-day symposium concentrating entirely on the Beatles “White Album” on the occasion of its 50th anniversary. Participants from all over the USA and overseas examined this unique album from all angles,
There were over 40 presentations on any topic you could possibly imagine relating to the White Album. The event was held on the campus of Monmouth University in New Jersey.
There was live music, panel discussions featuring New York Times music critics and Beatles Abbey Road engineers, smaller groups specializing in the Beatles trip to India, how the White Album related to the culture of 1968, commentary on the recent re-release of a remix of the album, listening sessions specializing on the new surround sound remix, trivia contests and much much more.
Please check the link below for a marvelous photo of the Beatles in the studio and a link to all the activities.
It was a real treat to be among so many informed and enthusiastic people, all focused on this one album, the best selling record of its decade.
If you have any questions about the White Album, I feel confident that I’d be able to provide answers.
Cheers,
Don
