TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN ANY CREATIVE ENDEAVOR, one must be passionate. Don Grossinger is passionate about mastering. His desire to maintain the best quality for his clients while offering competitive rates has driven him to open Grossinger Mastering, his new studio in Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. Clients working at the new facility have been exceedingly pleased by the comfortable, relaxed environment only 42 minutes by train from Manhattan.

Don has mastered CDs and records that have sold tens of millions of copies in all styles of music . His experience encompasses 25 years of mastering. Work Don has participated in has charted on almost all Billboard Magazine's charts. He has won RIAA Gold Record awards and has mastered Grammy Award winning albums and singles.

His early training was at Frankford / Wayne Mastering Labs, N.Y. While there, he participated in the beginnings of Dance and Hip Hop music, working with Arthur Baker, Tommy Boy Records and Tom Moulton. He also worked on projects for Miles Davis, George Thorogood, The Lovin' Spoonful, Eddie Grant, Steve Goodman, and the uncategorizable music of Captain Beefheart. He did the mastering for Billboard's #1 Gospel label, Savoy gospel Records.

Don was recruited by Bob Ludwig at Masterdisk Studios, N.Y. to act as his production engineer. Over a period of years, he cut vinyl records and made CD production masters for an amazing array of Bob's clients. Among these were Pink Floyd, Bruce Springsteen, Tears For Fears, Sade, Tony Bennett, Metallica, Elvis Costello, The Kronos String Quartet, The Grateful Dead, Public Enemy, Mariah Carey, Lou Reed and Journey among many others. Don also worked on projects for his own clients including Fairport Convention and Nick Drake.

In 1993, Don started eleven year tenure as Chief Mastering Engineer at Europadisk, Ltd in N.Y. At once, Don's work began appearing on Billboard's charts. He became an especially well known presence on the Dance charts, averaging between 10% to 35% of the weekly tally. He did work for 3 Grammy Award winning remixers (Peter Rauhoffer, David Morales, and Jr. Vasquez). His work for many independent labels brought major label clients including Christina Aguilera, Kelly Clarkson, Maroon 5, Franz Ferdinand, and Annie Lenox. In the Hip Hop world, Monica, Missy Elliot, Run DMC, Cypress Hill, Ghostfaced Killah, and labels J Records, BMG, Epic, and Def Jam.

Don was sought out by ABKCO Records and completed the vinyl cutting for 10 classic Rolling Stones albums including “Beggar's Banquet”, “Aftermath”, “ England 's Newest Hit Makers” and “Get Your Ya-Yas Out” among others.

He also mastered projects for The Flaming Lips, Guided By Voices, Television, and Bad Brains.

Back at Masterdisk in 2004, Don was chosen by Brian Wilson's production team to be the exclusive worldwide Vinyl cutting engineer for the “Smile” project, cutting the double LP (including bonus tracks), and the 7” 45 RPM singles. The album has received much critical acclaim.

In the field of audio restoration, Don has done work on the early recordings of Frank Sinatra, Charles Mingus, operatic tenor Robert White, Charlie Parker, and a collection of New York Trash Punk. Don's credits extend into Classical, Folk, Calypso, Salsa, Jazz, Bluegrass and Country.

Don is now available to handle all your CD and vinyl mastering needs. He lives 25 miles north of Manhattan with his wife and son, 5,000 records, almost 6,000 CDs, a 49 year old Stratocaster and a 27 year old Ferrari. He is a member of N.A.R.A.S. and the Audio Engineering Society. He is a co-moderator on the Recording.org website and an advisor and guest lecturer at the Institute Of Audio Research in New York .
